The 101.27 carat stone, which will be sold next May 28 by the Hong Kong branch of Christie's, the auction house British may well exceed the six million dollars (four million euros).

"Only three colorless diamond of more than 100 carats have never appeared at an auction, and all were sold to Geneva," said Francois Curiel, head of the jewelry department at Christie's. "Asia is a very dynamic market, it is fitting that this outstanding gem (...) is offered to the growing number of collectors in this region," he added.

The diamond was found in the first diamond mine in South Africa, and marketed by a European company that specializes in the diamond trade. In 1990, Mouawad Splendor, a diamond pear 101.84 carats, was sold for $ 12.7 million.

Until it goes under the hammer, precious stones can be the eyes devoured by the public, still in London, from 23 to 27 February.
